Solution

The paper does not meet specifications.

Use only paper that meets HP specifications.

A component is installed incorrectly.

Verify that all components are correctly installed.

You are using paper that has already passed through a product or copier.

Do not use paper that has been previously printed on or copied.

A tray is loaded incorrectly.

Remove any excess paper from the tray. Make sure that the stack is below the maximum stack height mark in the tray.

The paper is skewed.

The tray guides are not adjusted correctly. Adjust them so they hold the stack firmly in place without bending it.

The paper is binding or sticking together.

Remove the paper, flex it, rotate it 180°, or flip it over. Reload the paper into the tray.
Do not fan paper. Fanning can create static electricity, which can cause paper to stick together.

The paper is removed before it settles into the output bin.

Reset the product. Wait until the page completely settles in the output bin before removing it.

During two-sided printing, you removed the paper before the second side of the document was printed.

Reset the product and print the document again. Wait until the page completely settles in the output bin before removing it.

The paper is in poor condition.

Replace the paper.

The internal rollers from the tray are not picking up the paper.

Remove the top sheet of paper. If the paper is too heavy, it might not be picked from the tray.

The paper has rough or jagged edges.

Replace the paper.

The paper is perforated or embossed.

Perforated or embossed paper does not separate easily. Feed single sheets from Tray 1.

Product supply items have reached the end of their useful life.

Check the product control panel for messages alerting you of supplies status, or print a supplies status page to verify the remaining life of the supplies.

Paper was not stored correctly.

Replace the paper in the trays. Paper should be stored in the original packaging in a controlled environment.

Jam recovery

This product provides a jam recovery feature that reprints jammed pages. The following options are available:

AUTO — The product attempts to reprint jammed pages when sufficient memory is available. This is the default setting.

OFF — The product does not attempt to reprint jammed pages. Because no memory is used to store the most recent pages, performance is optimal.

When using this option, if the product runs out of paper and the job is being printed on both sides, some pages can be lost.

ON — The product always reprints jammed pages. Additional memory is allocated to store the last few pages printed. This might cause overall performance to suffer.

Set the jam recovery feature

Press the Menu button .

Press the down arrow  to highlight the CONFIGURE DEVICE menu, and then press the OK button.

Press the down arrow  to highlight the SYSTEM SETUP menu, and then press the OK button.

Press the down arrow  to highlight the JAM RECOVERY menu, and then press the OK button.

Press the down arrow or up arrow / to highlight the appropriate setting, and then press the OK button.

Press the Menu button  to return to the Ready state.

HP Laserjet P3015 – Paper Jam

Question:
I just purchased this printer in August 2015 and it keeps jamming every two pages. The most I got it to print at once was 15 pages when I used tray 1, but then it started jamming as well. The issue started 3 weeks ago. I finally unplugged and switched to a different printer. Any help appreciated. I have done the obvious things such as turn it off, restart, tried on another computer, checked for stuck paper or small pieces. Nothing has worked. It is brand new
Response:

That’s an error generated for the fuser and paper exit area. I would contact the company you purchased the printer from and let them know what it going on, if you haven’t already. It possible you have a bad/old fuser or a damaged or blocked sensor.  I don’t mind trying to help you solve the problem, but I don’t want to frustrate you either. The fuser for this model is not something you can easily take out if you havn’t before, and I’m pretty sure it’s not a customer replaceable item.

You can print with the rear door of this printer open and the paper will exit the back of the machine. Pull the rear door open one click (about 45 degrees) and try. If the paper comes out ok without jamming, then the problem is probably with the exit sensor located near where the paper comes out of the top of the machine. You’ll see one skinny black plastic tab in the center, and two larger black tabs on either side of it. The should move freely without sticking.

If the paper still jams, then the problem is probably with the fuser. Either way, the company you purchased this from should be willing to help you out if there is a defective part or loose connection somewhere.

Are you printing on just plain 20# bond 8.5×11 or something heavier like cardstock or labels?
